What is Books Alive?
Books Alive is an early literacy program that fosters the development of “THE BIG SIX EARLY LITERACY SKILLS” by bringing BOOKS to LIFE through INTERACTIVE storytelling, puppets, character dress up, flannel board stories, prop stories and music/movement activities! According to the National Institute for Literacy, development of “The Big Six Early Literacy Skills” has a clear and consistently strong relationship to future school success! The Big Six Early Literacy Skills include: vocabulary, print motivation, print awareness, narrative skills, letter knowledge and phonological awareness. Books Alive also develops listening skills, memory/recall, self-confidence and most importantly a feeling that READING IS FUN!
