At Providence Prep, we understand that STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) is the real world application of knowledge.  It allows for an interdisciplinary approach to childhood development. The challenges provided by our Charlotte STEM and Arts educators create opportunities for children to develop necessary skills, like critical thinking and problem solving skills.  All of the challenges can be done independently as well as collaboratively.  STEM and Arts education allows the children a chance to make connections to what they already know to successfully complete the challenge.  It is also allows for teachers to facilitate the child through a challenge if they notice the child is in need of some guidance.

Book cover titled 'Robots, Robots Everywhere!' featuring colorful, cartoon-style robots with various shapes and expressions, floating among clouds and flying devices.

After reading Robots, Robots Everywhere, the class challenge is to create our own robot. We will be encouraged to draw our design before we start creating. Our teacher will provide the following materials: cups, pipe cleaners, straws, index cards, tin foil, markers and popsicle sticks. After we are finished, we will show our classmates.  If we choose to do so, we will tell a story about our robot.
