Sandy & Betsy Weathersbee

Co-Founders, Providence Preparatory School

In 2007, after 25 years in commercial real estate development, I was invited to join the board of a struggling Christian childcare ministry in a high-risk neighborhood in Charlotte. As the economy declined, I stepped back from development to focus on revitalizing the ministry—an unexpected calling that deepened my passion for high-quality Christian childcare and early STEAM education. Research and conversations with childcare professionals confirmed a clear need in our community, and after much prayer, persistence, and divine timing, Providence Preparatory School opened its doors on September 4, 2012.

Betsy joined the school in 2013, leaving an 18-year career in upscale retail to launch and lead our Nutrition Program. What began with washing dishes turned into a hands-on journey of menu planning, food prep, and the vision to build a nationally recognized wellness program for young children.

Together, we view Providence Prep as a ministry—one shaped by faith, driven by purpose, and committed to giving every child a strong, joyful start to learning.
